What is a miracle? A miracle typically by definition is “an extraordinary and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is, therefore, attributed to a divine agency”. Most of you must be thinking that a miracle cannot happen ever, but believe me, I saw the movie Miracles from Heaven, based on a true-life event, and I was completely convinced that miracles do happen. They happen every single day of our lives unknowingly.
No spoilers but this movie is something that completely opened my mind and trust me; it was an amazing experience to see this movie and the fact that it strengthened my belief in faith and of course miracles.
To inform you, readers, the basics of this movie, a 10-year-old girl was going through intestinal issues and went through a tremendous amount of pain, tests and medicines. She could not process any food which made her stomach appear “fat”, perhaps something happened that completely changed her life and brought her life back to normal — what we call a “miracle”. She did, in reality, connect with God while this happened to her.
I was always someone who strongly believed that things happen for a reason because we all exist on this planet and have the ability to communicate with each other is a miracle in itself. Say, for instance, this pandemic that we are going through is also happening for a reason, and who knows, in the future, we may not even need vaccination and by a miracle, things might get better and go back to normal before we know it.
So, please don’t lose your faith in God, and that this all will continue forever is so not true. God is trying to teach us all something in these dark and tough days. Don’t you think in this moment of rest you are learning something every day? The fact that this disease came into existence is a miracle in itself, so why be so pessimistic about this whole situation? I know it’s hard to cope but trust me it’ll all end up teaching us all a huge lesson of life. You might think of me as a naïve individual for believing all this, but the movie will tell you the rest.
There are some more miraculous stories that I’m yet to tell you about. One such story is about a flight attendant, Vesna Vulovic, who boarded a plane from Stockholm to Belgrade. Everything seemed normal until the plane exploded at 33,000 feet: the result of a terrorist attack. Everyone on the plane perished except for Vesna — and after it was all over, she held the world record for the longest fall survived without a parachute. Although she had very serious injuries, she survived and is regarded as a national hero in the former Yugoslavia.
Another story is about a woman named Morgan Lake who was once stopped at a toll plaza on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, only to watch in horror as a large tractor-trailer sped toward her without giving any indication of stopping. It slammed into her car, sending her through the toll plaza and off the bridge, into the cold water below. As the car filled with water, Morgan found herself unable to escape, until she felt “a hand push her back against her seat” to relax her and allow her to unfasten her seat belt and escape the car before it sunk.
Talking from personal experience, the day my grandfather passed away, that day there was a hailstorm and no other day, I still remember. That day was a miracle in itself. Think about it, if good things happen to you on particular days that is also a miracle.
Suppose you really wanted to go for a party one of the days but you were not allowed to go or unable to go, that too happened for a reason. Later, maybe you got to know that some of your friends got into trouble or a bad thing happened to them. Certain good things might have happened to you in your life which would not have happened to other individuals. It’s something to think deeper into and introspect.
To conclude, if you are not a believer in faith or miracles, please let me know if I managed to convince you. Next time you get some time I strongly urge you all to watch this movie, it is not a waste of time, that is for sure.
Lastly, remember life is filled with miracles, and whenever you feel low, or all the odds are in your favour, think about the concept of faith and you will see the optimism and inner strength building up in you again. You’ll see the magic.
