Right now, some times in the past, the media has shown a face that was seen rarely or never seen before. The only purpose of the current journalism revolves around getting the highest TRP and become देश का सबसे बडा न्यूज चैनल (the biggest news channel in the country). Even the Supreme Court pointed out that there is a strict requirement for media houses to redefine the values, fundamental rights freedom, and also to understand the right to privacy.
Professionalism has been lost somewhere as there are certain important issues that the nation should know, but these so-called media people don’t want the nation to know. But, we cannot blame the media for this completely as they serve what we like to eat.
Let us imagine, we’re a daily customer of a restaurant, and we order pizza daily. Now, we know that eating junk is bad for health, but if we still go there, we are paying them to serve us the filth. How does your health matter to the staff? They’ll keep on serving you the same thing. Similarly, these media people are not stupid. They’re smart enough to understand that the junk they’re serving to the society to become देश का सबसे बडा न्यूज चैनल is all bullshit. They know it well that spreading so much hate, creating this mess, so much of clamour, is not worth it. But, जनता की फरमाइश पर, फिर एक बार सबसे बडे मुद्दे पर होगी देश की सबसे बडी बहस (On the request of the public, once again the biggest debate in the country will be on the biggest issue).
Today’s media has gone so violent and aggressive. Initially, the main motive of collecting and spreading news was to spread awareness and knowledge about the worldwide activities. But now they create sensationalism, media trials, and spread hate.
And you know, I think that these courts, judiciary, law and order, discipline all these systems should be removed, because right now the media is the only AND ONLY JUSTICE DOER in the country! There are numerous cases where the people have been declared GUILTY by the media before the real trials like the Jessica Lal Case, Bijal Joshi, Arushi Talwar, Priyadarshini Mattoo.
And how can we forget the most SENSATIONAL, and shocking, the SSR case…undoubtedly, even today it doesn’t feel like he’s not among us, but I’m very sure he must be very sad seeing all this.
However, India is not a surveillance state and there should not be any kind of illegal and non-constitutional investigation on media freedom, provided the media clings to the main principles like truth, accuracy, transparency, independence, fairness and impartiality. Simultaneously, the institutional and regulatory framework like the Press Council of India, News Broadcasters Association (NBA), PIB, etc. has to be strengthened.
