Lately, I have been obsessed with Kangana Ranaut for all the wrong reasons. She reminds me of everything I did not become because I refused to give up on my upbringing and principles. Be it being loud to prove my point or biased, trying to achieve personal goals.
What agitated me more was the fact that she was given Y+ security while fighting a personal battle that surrounded her “revenge”. Thousands of women in my country continue to battle for survival on their journeys as they crash through eyes, hands and crotches, looking and touching them every day en route schools, colleges and offices. This is so normal that somedays the bitter pain of discomfort given by an unknown man is forcefully gulped and forgotten by the time a female reaches home.
While rapes, suicides and exposure to extreme domestic violence continue to rise at an alarming rate, a woman is given Y+ security for being a self-appointed Hercules against everything. The “innocent” public of this country has already forgotten that she started the fight for justice of Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise. She beautifully moulded the whole case to her advantage of reopening her old scores with the film industry.
As a frustrated “nobody” who also happens to be the face of millions of nobodies in this country, here is my sarcastic take on everything you can learn from Kangana Ranaut (I am using this purely to vent out my anger as a viewer and also as a tax-paying citizen of the country).
- You can be totally obnoxious, unprofessional and misbehaved and still blame it on others for not working with you simply by being loud and picking up topics like biases and nepotism to support your loud arguments.
- You can use people for your career and when done using them you can start calling out other women for being ambitious and judge them on parameters based on what you were doing.
- You can be the flag bearer of misogyny and later play the victim patriarchy card for justifying it.
- You don’t need to take a stand. Keep manipulating and flipping based on your convenience. It will contribute to the formation of a “Sabhya Samaj” civil society.
- You can wear a saree and get anything done in India. Same applies to saying Jai Shri Ram, we love #BJP and doing “tu-tadak” with other leaders.
- Loud is the new “true” and “fearless”, irrespective of the truth.
- The honourable CRPF officers can be treated like mere bodyguards if you support the centre loudly.
- You can use a dead man’s name to your benefit anywhere and everywhere like a credit card if you want to be called fearless.
- Education is unimportant. You can be popular by shouting, playing the victim card and supporting the ruling party.
- If you talk about the opposition you will be given Y+ security even if you cause discomfort to the passengers of a flight along with your media friends.
Great. Now you are all set for your success. Do pass the teachings to your kids too. Let them also learn the shortcuts to fame.
