In the wake of the post-lockdown coronavirus spike in India, the inner and outer space of our life has been sabotaged. The worst affected by this chaos has been, of course, our women.
According to a report by the United Nations, a surge in domestic violence has been reported, with most of them closely related to sexual assault and physical torture. This is a heinous crime, it is no surprise that a majority of the cases are left unreported or unattended to in our society.
India has witnessed a rise in the same, women are suffering, mostly in and out of their privacy and security. Yet, those survivors continue living in such abusive families, out of compulsion owing to the pandemic. However, the personal liberty of a woman is being tarnished repeatedly.
Even elderly woman of dwellings are involved in provoking damages to the young one’s cognitive wellbeing, owing to their internalised misogyny. Leaving aside the fortunate ones, this lockdown has led to hazardous outcomes and living situations for most women.
