Water is a basic necessity for a human. For a country planning to become Atmanirbhar, most of our citizens don’t have access to clean drinking water. And the saddest part is, 1.3 million people in India don’t have access to clean water.
Causes:
- Growing population
- Carelessness of usage
- No proper water management
- No proper disposal of waste
In India, 125 litres of water is wasted daily, and most of our water bodies are contaminated with chemicals and agricultural pesticides.
65% of our water is wasted and not conserved properly.
We are lucky to have access to water, but there are many who drink contaminated water and die. Over 4,58,000 people die in India by drinking contaminated water.
Effects of drinking contaminated water are:
- Waterborne diseases
- Delayed growth in children
- Reproductive problems
By 2050, 35% of the world’s population will live in water-stressed areas.
Four tips to help conserve water indoors:
- Turn off the faucet while brushing teeth.
- Take shorter showers.
- Fix leaks in faucets.
- Only wash full loads.
Leonardo Da Vinci said, “Water is the vehicle of life.” Always think twice before wasting water.
