The List Of Cancelled Sports Events Is Only Increasing With The Recent Wimbledon Announcement

It was definitely a bigger concern (the pandemic of coronavirus) that led to the postponement of quite famed Wimbledon tennis championship after an emergency meeting of All England Lawn Tennis Club on 1st April 2020. The health and safety concern was stated to be the immediate reason behind cancelling this year’s grass-court sporting event, which was last cancelled only during the Second World War. The entire grass-court season has been abandoned.

Wimbledon is the latest major summer sporting event that has been called off. Pointing out at the decision, AELTC Chairman Ian Smith, said, “We have done so with the highest regard for public health and the well-being of all those come together to make Wimbledon happen.” The 134th Championships are now set to be held between June 28 and July 11, 2021, as told by The Independent.co.uk.

It is a well-considered calculation taken in view of the widespread global crisis. It is thought to be ultimately a straight decision. Behind every statistic is an opinion that has been formed, following through extensive and minute consideration of the scenarios arising all over the globe. In this sudden but pondered cancellation, there was carried an unduly lucid standpoint on how to analyse and visualise the scary situation. The present pandemic has frightened us as a bigger phenomenon.

The correlation between the deadly coronavirus and sporting events are not anywise clear. But there was persisting connection between politicians’ perception of the future capacity to evaluate and ways to tackle the bigger challenges coming in the way on the living planet that we call Earth. Though there was received enough criticism by the lower-ranked tennis players,  it remains the need of the hour.
