On April 3, the creators at TVF (The Viral Fever) offered a new web series to their viewers in a completely different platform – Amazon Prime Video. The trailer was announced on March 29 by Biswapati Sarkar and Jitendra Kumar through Instagram, and just a day after the announcement, the trailer dropped. Panchayat is directed by TVF’s Permanent Roommates director Deepak Kumar Mishra (more famous as Purushottam from the same series) and written by Chandan Kumar. The series features some of the best actors from the digital medium as well as some new emerging faces.
The story of Panchayat revolves around Abhishek (played by Jitendra Kumar), who is an engineering graduate but unfortunately has no job options. When he gets a job as a secretary in the Panchayat office in a remote village in Uttar Pradesh, Abhishek is unsure about joining. He is convinced by his friend Prateek (Biswapati Sarkar) as a chance for adventure. When Abhishek reaches there, he is stuck between the villagers and a difficult village lifestyle. Abhishek starts his job with the sole motivation of getting out of there as soon as possible, for which he even prepares for CAT.
I have watched the entire 8 episodes of Panchayat. Each episode conveys a beautiful message. But, I would like to tell you three things about this web series:
1. It gives an opportunity for young people and startups to understand the atmosphere of village life, the working style of Panchayat and things related to the rural mindset.
2. It gives the message that women must take charge and actively take part in decision making, like running the panchayat.
3. It gives a message to young people that they need to fight through the ups and downs of life.
