COVID-19 has brought the world to its knees. The United States of America (USA) has registered the highest number of cases and deaths, and India is not far behind. The United Kingdom has already started their first human trial, whereas India has started its first case of plasma therapy. If this therapy and human will succeeds to defeat the novel coronavirus, then it will be the biggest achievement of this year.
Cases are rapidly increasing day by day in India. In Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat and Rajasthan, the number of cases are very high. The whole nation is now under a lockdown, and it is supposed to extend yet again. States are supposed to be divided in three zones: red, orange and green. States highly affected by the virus might be put in red zones, while States having less number of cases will come in orange zone, and States having no cases or very few cases would be put in the green zone.
In Northeast India, five out of eight States, including Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura have no coronavirus cases. The other three states, Assam, Mizoram and Meghalaya have eight, one and 11 positive cases. But no new cases have been reported from these three states in last few days. The Center has declared five Northeast states as coronavirus-free, waiting for the other three states to test negative so that the whole north-east region can be declared coronavirus-free.
The Northeast States have coordinated in a perfect way. For the past few years, Northeast India has been setting an example for all the other States in the field of development and literacy. All transport facilities and Inner Line provision (ILP) are suspended in NE sates. People in the region are maintaining social distancing, hygiene and following government orders everywhere. The government of these States have managed the lockdown in such a way that corona cases didn’t spread much.
Again, the Northeast States have set an example for other states in their fight against COVID-19. Now, the centre will be able to put the whole Northeast region in the green zone.
