Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation today where he announced an extension of the lockdown till 3rd of May amid the rising COVID-19 cases in India.
Here are the key points from his address:
There would be a rigorous check on the lockdown with strict attention to the hotspots till 20th April.
Some conditional relaxation would be given to the areas outside the hotspots for important activities from 20th April after a review of the situation in that area.
Additonally, the PM has requested every citizen to follow 7 steps during the lockdown:
- Take special care of the elders at home specially those with a pre-existing condition.
- Use homemade masks.
- Follow Ayush Ministry’s guidelines to improve immunity.
- Download the Aarogya Setu mobile app to keep yourself updated on Covid-19.
- Help the poor people around you with food as much as possible.
- Be supportive of your employees and do not fire anyone from their jobs in this precarious time.
- Appreciate and honour our doctors, the police and sanitation workers for their relentless work.
