Quick Bytes: “Those In Power Have To Be Sensitive To The Suffering Of The Poor.”

After a trending campaign, government arranged for Kota students to get home, while the migrants remain stranded without food and jobs.

Both the Centre and the state governments have displayed an apathetic attitude towards the poor. Big schemes and announcements as relief packages are flaunted, but rarely reach the ground level.  The problem for this government is that COVID-19 is not the only problem that India is facing, but economic crisis, unemployment, social division and so on are also at peak. You can hear a commotion in every corner of India; thousands of helpless labourers can’t even manage to get a meal once a day, and there’s panic and anger among workers stuck without job or food.

Those who are in power have to be sensitive to the suffering of the poor.”

The prodigal use of money and resources in building statues, etc., resulted in government accounts being deficit, so salaries and wages were cut. This is nothing but sheer foolishness by a government which seems to be plutocratic. The poor toil everyday just to earn a hand-to-mouth living. The government needs a pragmatic approach to deal with the COVID-19 crisis, so that the poor aren’t omitted.

Bringing back Kota students is injustice towards stranded migrant labourers. The students stuck in Kota mostly belong to highly privileged classes, yet special arrangements were made for them. This came in highlight when students started #support/help Kota students. But unfortunately, poor migrant labourers don’t have this option. They have just hope that one day they will reach home.
