CM Kejriwal Says Delhi Ready With ‘5T’ Plan To Tackle COVID-19 Pandemic

On Tuesday, April 7, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the Delhi government has developed a 5-step plan to contain the Coronavirus spread in the national capital. The plan, the CM said, was based on the impact of the Coronavirus on several other nations.

According to Kejriwal, the plan comprises of five ‘Ts,’ which include Testing, Tracing, Treatment, Teamwork, Tracking, as well as monitoring. The aim is to expand testing grounds in the nation, for which the Chief Minister has cited the example of South Korea in terms of large-scale testing.

The central government has ordered 50,000 testing kits that are expected to be delivered within three days. According to Kejriwal, tests will be conducted in ‘hotspot’ areas. Moreover, testing will be regulated on a random basis.

The Delhi Police will be assisting the central government in determining and tracking the number of cases that need to be reported. Individuals who had attended religious congregations will also be tracked and tested. Further, Kejriwal has said that 2,950 beds have been reserved for the patients in several hospitals, and about 8,000 beds will be made.

“The government has earmarked around 400 beds in private hospitals for COVID-19 patients. We have prepared a detailed plan to take over private hospitals if the number of coronavirus cases rises up to 30,000 in Delhi,” he said.

The Chief Minister commended all the governments in the nation while adding that, “There is no alternative to teamwork.” He appreciated the medical staff, as well as the healthcare officials for their dedication towards alleviation.

Kejriwal also said that the Delhi government will also take over 12,000 hotel rooms and make adequate arrangements for at least 30,000 cases.

“We will have 8,000 beds in hospitals, 12,000 hotel rooms and 10,000 rooms at banquet halls and guesthouses…The most serious, those already suffering from other disease and above the age of 50, will be kept in hospitals while others will be accommodated elsewhere,” the Chief Minister said.

As the Chief Minister, Kejriwal said that it is his duty to ensure that all the cases are tracked and reported while promising the effective execution of his 5-point plan. For this, he said, “I will personally track and monitor every single aspect involved in making this plan successful.”
