Here are three ways Kerela is doing well in adapting to the Covid-19 situation:
1. Food sector:
- The state has energized their PDS system so that households which are not under the priority list get 15 kg of free food supplies for a month. They plan to distribute food kits with basic grocery and veggie. Also, the home delivery service has been arranged to avoid crowding in ration outlets. Further, nutritious meal plates at ₹20 per plate are being served through the 1000 canteens run by the state.
2. Healthcare:
- The public sector enterprises have been advised to increase the production and supply of the hand sanitizer with an immediate response of producing the additional of 1 Lakh bottles per day. Drug and pharmaceutical ltd has been provided with ₹25 crores for the adequate supply of the medicines required for Covid-19, along with N95 masks.
3. Connectivity:
- Internet service providers have been asked to increase their network capacity by 30 to 40 per cent to ensure that people can work from home.
At present, the Karnataka state shares about 31% of the poor in its population, a productive quarantined life has to be ensured by the government to the people, as many of them are literally struggling for job security. Some immediate measures need to be taken at this moment.
