The War Against Coronavirus: Making Sure No One Goes To Sleep Hungry

We are sure once this ‘war-lockdown’ will be over, many Prime Ministers and Presidents would go back to their drawing boards and curse themselves on why they didn’t utilise those funds in improving the healthcare system instead of spending them on nuclear weapons, missiles, and bombs. Anyway, who knew this tiny invisible virus is the enemy we all have to fight with?

We have good news. In a few more weeks, the world will come out of this ‘war-lockdown’. Life will get back to normal again.

How about one more good news for a change? In this war, we are not fighting against each other. We are all fighting, together, against the wicked virus. We are all fighting beyond nationalities, caste, or creed. We haven’t been realising that we are demonstrating solidarity.

How are we going to win the war against the Coronavirus? We have almost touched 700k cases and over 3ok deaths, globally. A loud warning bell?

For now, let’s head back to the most immediate concern. Let’s talk about the daily wage earners and migrant workers. The situation is extremely vulnerable on the ground for these people. Unfortunately, people are dying because of hunger. Really? Yes.

I think we can solve this: In times like these, it is important to be united and supportive in whatever way we can, as a collective community. There are people who are willing to donate raw ration and food to daily wage earners and migrant workers who are in night shelters, relief camps, or are simply walking towards their home.

So, we reached out to the CEOs of almost every supply chain company, grocery and food chain, logistics, food tech companies of the country, and to our surprise three of them: Delhivery, Dunzo, and Grofers agreed to do the deliveries on a Pro Bono basis.

We then started collecting cooked food and dry ration from different segments of the society (individuals, families, restaurants, organisations, and communities) with the help of Delhivery and delivered them to Gurudwaras, shelters, and relief camps.

We believe we can easily accelerate this process henceforth and make sure no one goes hungry during this lockdown.

Here’s How You Can Jump In And Help

  1. Want to volunteer with us? Help us in coordinating the process.
  2. Want to donate dry ration, groceries, milk, medicine, or cooked food packets? We are chalking out strategies if you want us to collect from some of the grocery stores after you make the payment, or simply from your home, and we can get the same collected and delivered through our delivery partners on board.
  3. Are you an NGO? Already doing something similar? Let’s connect and use each other’s resources.
  4. Are you running a kitchen? Our partner NGOs can cook food there.
  5. Are you a delivery service? We want to cover every Pincode.
  6. Any other way to solve this? Let us know.
