Kathputli is made up of two words,Kath means wood and Putli means doll. So basically a doll which is made out of wood,is lifeless and is controlled by puppetters with the help of string. We tend to enjoy the show very much in which the lifeless dolls are controlled and made to entertain people. If limited to this show,to entertain people without disturbing anyone’s feeling or hampering lives,it’s quiet interesting. But if applied to reality will it still be this interesting? Well it is, for some people. Despite made out of wood we are made out of blood and flesh. We do sustain life but should we call this one where some of us are not allowed to live according to us. Girls cannot wear what they want,can’t go places by themselves and threatened by saying “it’s not safe for you because you are a girl”,boys are always forced to study hard and get placed as soon as possible as they have their family pressure upon their shoulders and they sacrifice their dreams, the transgenders are not treated equally or the way they should be. We are forced to adapt ourselves according to the society and behave accordingly. No more or less we are too living the lives of Kathputli although they are not having a life but even we, I don’t think are having one.
