Trigger warning: This poem mentions abuse.
I depart from this world
Leaving behind my body
Carrying my soul I depart to a heavenly abode
My body is a canvas
A canvas filled with strokes of abuse
An epitome of patriarchy, domineering gender roles
I was just a bud trying to bloom
When I found myself violated to the very core
I tried to fight
Tried to defend myself
But found myself crushed by the society’s pressure
Helpless and impotent
I was just a bud trying to bloom
But all I became was a victim of wounds
