After Assam, Monsoon Fury Grips Central And Southern Indian States

After Assam, now heavy rains have created a flood situation in other Indian states such as Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, with Kerala being most affected by the flood. The government of Kerala has issued a red alert in many districts.

173 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed for a rescue operation. Thousands of people have been shifted to relief camps and approximately 60 people have died due to flood since August 11.

Now, the situation is a bit better but, Wayanad, Kasargode and Kannur are still on red alert. Landslides are hampering hilly areas such as Wayanad, Malappuram and Kozhikode. Landslides are a serious issue and we cannot ignore it because at least seven people have died due to landslides.

Now, the government was expecting to end the rescue operation on Sunday, 11 August, 2019 and wanted to focus on the shortage of essentials materials such as foods, dresses, medicines, etc.

Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited relief camps in Tamil Nadu and Kerala respectively. Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan held a meeting with officers to review the flood situations.

Telecom firm BSNL announced the provision of unlimited calls to subscribers for seven days in flood-affected areas and has also offered SMS and 1 GB data for free in these flood-affected states: Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
