Every Time We Talk About India’s Equality, We Should Keep The Zomato Incident In Mind

Why should caste define you more than your work? Why should one religion be superior over the other?

Should the first thing you take note of be the religion and caste of the delivery agent when you order food from a delivery app?

Customer Amit Shukla refused to accept an order just because the delivery agent was “non-Hindu.” He wished then to cancel his order from Zomato as they declined to send a Hindu delivery executive. Zomato also said it is better to sacrifice profit for the protection of values.

The biggest question arising with cases like this: why do people have to deal with matters like this just because they born with a religion or caste which is recessive according to some other people? Of course your religion, your caste gives you identity but what makes you claim superiority?

These things seems strange but it is the truth which still exists in our society. And if we assume that this is because of lack of education, we are wrong somewhere. This kind of inhumane behaviour is also exhibited by people who are well-educated and hold important positions.

There are many misconception which people use as a theory to judge others. There are people even in this era who are fighting for their identity and dignity.

I am unable to understand the kinds of pseudo-theories people have about their religion and caste. People take money without considering religion and caste from others, because it is valuable to them. But they can’t take food from a delivery agent because he is non-Hindu?

How can religion define one’s ability to do a job?

When will statements like this end in our society? We talk about human rights, the equality people have in our country. But situations like this make us to reconsider the same. If we want to grow as a country, we have to respect every person on the basis of their work and their capability, not on the basis of their religion and caste.
