If you see growth in the education sector, then you will realise that there are so many budding colleges in India and they seem to be continuously increasing. But, the question that remains is whether these colleges provide quality education to students? Is the educational standard increasing along with the number of colleges? The answer is no secret, it is a strong no.
In my opinion, colleges hardly put any focus on the practical application of the knowledge acquired in classes. There are no separate clubs or wings that specifically provide practical knowledge and proper insight into the real functioning of a particular industry.
Why Is It Important To Have Separate Clubs For Different Departments?
In every college, there are separate departments, like the Department of Management, Department of Information Technology, Department of Engineering (sub-divisions like Mechanical, etc.). Dealing with different educational fields, each department has its own code of conduct and mode of operations. However, there’s one more thing which every department should have, and that is an associated club. For example, if it’s the Management department, then there must be a Leadership or Management Club if it’s the IT department, then there must be a Tech Club.
The necessity of having a separate club for each department can be listed as follows:
- A separate club ensures that it will specifically deal with the events, programmes and workshops of that particular field in education.
- Having a separate club will encourage the students to organise and participate in the programmes and workshops as it’s closely associated with what they learn.
- Students will have creative freedom and rights to take such initiatives together which will give them the ability to think differently and have real life experiences of working in a team. It will also build virtues like team work and leadership.
- There is so much power in standing as a community rather than standing alone. When students of similar educational backgrounds come together, they can also ask their department to bring companies for Internships or Jobs which will provide them with real working experiences.
- Students can also send a proposal to the relevant companies which provide internship in their field. This is a win-win situation for students, as well as the college department and the companies.
You can talk to your teachers or professors in charge and present your plans formally to them. Be careful in choosing your partners for this project. If you are from a Private College, the process will be relatively easy for you, as compared to Government colleges. I hope this pursuit leads to real learning and exposure in your fields.
