Let me state at the outset; I’ve not seen Kabir Singh. But due to all the frenzy surrounding it, I couldn’t refrain myself from jotting down a few points.
The concept of feminism is highly misunderstood and moulded to fit the bill. How can something made for pure entertainment, created by some arbitrary person cause such a strong wave of opinions on social media?! Going by the reviews and the storyline I was able to make out, Kabir Singh is a man of extremes. He is so intense that people who don’t have similar personalities cannot relate. I believe that a few particular scenes were violent and uncalled for. But we need to understand that it’s a movie meant solely to make it big in the box office. This is not real life. Do we really believe that the youth would get inspired by this one film? How many people went off to hunt dragon eggs, after watching Game Of Thrones ??
It’s time that we let movies be a source of entertainment and not overreact to things that aren’t really that important. It believe that in the end there’s a thin line between masculinity and toxic masculinity or chauvinism. If you are not comfortable with it, just don’t hit the theatres!
