Reasons why BJP Government losed Rajasthan Election 2018?

With less than 2 months remaining for elections in Rajasthan, BJP party is facing some serious troubles gaining the interest of people in the state. The failure of current Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje to fulfil her promises and keeping her interest above the development of state are the major reasons leading toward the failure of BJP upcoming defeat in 2018 elections.

The rise of corruption and nepotism under the administration of Vasundhra Raje has results in increased criticism against the BJP government in Rajasthan. The failure of Raje to fulfil the promises has developed her image as a non-performing Chief Minister which raises some serious questions abut her credibility as the leader. Here are some major reason why BJP will face defeat in Rajasthan election 2018:

  1. Putting major projects on hold

In 2013, Congress government has undergone a contract with HPCL (Hindustan Petrochemical Limited) to develop a 9 million tonne refinery-cum-petrochemicals plant in Rajasthan. The total investment of this project was estimated around Rs. 37,000 crores. After winning the 2014 elections, the BJP government led by Vasundhra Raje put the MOU of such huge project under review in the light of renegotiation of terms and conditions with HPCL. The MOU was thrashed because of BJP Government’s greed for more shares for state and unwillingness to provide an interest-free loan package which was discussed in previous MOU.

In 2018, the project was redrafted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which faced a lot of criticism by people because of the fact that the same project has been laid twice after 4 years wasting a lot of time and no fruitful outcome has yet achieved form such huge project.

The Barmer Life Canal Project is another wxample of BJP government failure in Rajasthan infrastructure development. The project was subjected to be completed in three years after setting the foundation stone by Congress in 2003. Out of the blue, after gaining the power in a state, Raje government put the project on hold. She later accused former government of Ashok Gehlot government for not making budgetary allocations for the execution of the project.

  1. Failure to act responsibly

According to the Comptroller and Auditor General Report of Rajasthan for the year 2016-17, it is found that a lot of government departments failed to act accordingly on the ambitious initiatives of Vasundhara Raje.

The report of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly stated no expenditure was recorded by seven departments of the state on major project and policy declarations by Raje in the year 2016-17. This report shows a slow attitude of BJP government for follow-up action and failure to execute the projects defines the lack of monitoring by the state departments.

  1. Putting Health Sector in private hands

Vasundhara Raje started the Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana relying majorly on the private bodies to deliver healthcare services. This scheme would have been a successful approach to win Rajasthan election in 2018 but the failure to increase the budget to develop health care institutions becomes a poor hand for BJP to play. BJP tried to divert the healthcare funds to insurance and relying on private providers which increase the load of patients.

  1. Employment Crisis

No matter how much promises Varundhra Raje made before, the Chief Minister had failed to fulfil her promise to improve employment opportunities in the stat which can be troublesome for her chances of victory in Rajasthan election 2018. BJP has made a budgetary promise to provide over 1.4 lakh posts for youth before December 2018. Looking at the current figures, the state government is lagging far behind their commitment due to extremely poor implementation of employment generation activities.

Taking a detailed look at the numbers, 77,100 posts in the educational department only out 1,40,000 are vacant. Similarly, over 18000 positions are vacant in police department followed by 11,930 vacant posts in state bodies and 6,758 vacant posts in the health care services.

Apart from that, Vasundhra Raje declared a skill training program to develop the youth better for jobs. A budget of Rs. 15 crores was passed for entrepreneurship development. Still, the program failed to gain interest of significant takers.

15 lakh jobs were premised in 5 years of BJP’s manifesto yet the government has failed to reach the target of even 1 lakh jobs in last four years. The false figures of providing over 3,00,000 jobs by state government is misleading for the youth and the state as well.

  1. Failure with POCSO

Rajasthan High Court has consistently reminded the BJP government to set a necessary number of POCSO (Protection of Children against Sexual Offences) courts yet the party failed to do so. The court has expressed its anguish toward the Raje led state government due to its failure to sanction a budget for setting up of POCSO courts. This states that the BJP is not at all concerned about the safety of children and failed to realize the importance of the POCSO Act. Till now, only one POCSO court has been set up in Rajasthan.

In the last four years, BJP has caused more trouble to the state rather than its development. The consequences of this can be easily seen in upcoming Rajasthan election 2018. No matter how hard this party try, their acts of negligence toward state had brought the party to doom.
