Men become careful in interaction with women behind #Me Too drive

The #Me Too movement entered our country with lightning speed, burning up a good many famous personalities. Even a minister had to resign in the wake of its leaping flames. Its aftermath remained detrimental.

Taken up purely as a western way to widen women’s issues in front of the whole wide world, it pervades through the public domain as a dreary subject. Though the pace of allegations has contracted, the exercise by survivors has not gone down entirely.

The question arises: Why does it existed if it is not helpful in fetching justice for the survivor? Does it remain in direct focus even now, to expose women’s avoidable exploitation, largely to satisfy men’s carnal desires?

The immediate response to the question lies in a recent survey, which has revealed that almost 80% of men have become overly-cautious in their interactions with women colleagues, mainly due to ongoing #MeToo stories.

In accordance with the survey, eight out of ten people said that formal workplace interactions have been highly impacted as a result of this particular campaign. Since its beginning, the impact was at the fore. Presently, the survey also found that 80% of respondents (survivors) said dread losing their jobs, and familial status. Social shame, and cynicism could be some of the solid reasons for the survivors of sexual harassment not reporting the incidents when they happened.

The movement has surely maintained some impressive characteristics. Also, around 70 of the respondents stated that even after reporting the cases, survivors still face threats; a dismal situation.

The study further observed that close to 50% of the respondents disapproved of survivors reporting the abuse later, while two in five males supported the victims saying they are quite correct in reporting the abuse later.

About seven in every ten respondents said that encouraging the affected women to be independent can possibly help them to powerfully speak up about any sort of agonising physical abuse. The campaign appears to have established itself as a nuclear warhead to protect the women of the world.
