Ever since we start interacting with these species of organisms called homo sapiens (google that sh!t Rahul or as the kids in my neighbourhood know him – chhota bheem waale uncle), we are told “bado ki izzat karo” (translation :”Respect your elders”).
Everyone-our teachers, parents, elder siblings, uncle’s sister’s chacha ki beti ka bhanja… you get the point. Literally everyone around you at some point of time have said that to you. Did you ever ask them WHY? Well today I’ve decided to list out all the possible reasons to clear all your doubts about this unsaid rule:
- They were born before us.
- …
Wow! I brainstormed really hard for fifteen minutes straight and still did not find even a second reason to do that. I mean think about it, this can’t be the sole reason as to why we should follow this totally logical rule. Socho, Socho! I will wait….
Did you find a second reason? Ok some of you might say an extension of the first reason and say that they’re more experienced than us in life. Well ok, i m not denying that but that doesn’t mean that they’re perfect and whatever they say is patthar ki lakeer(yeah, google that sh!t Gen-Z!). They may be wrong and correcting them shouldn’t be seen as something wrong just because “respect your elders”. In fact age shouldn’t even be a criteria for respecting someone. Things like success, talent, kindness,IQ, EQ, etc etc should be a criteria for respecting someone. I can’t just ask Dawood Ibrahim “Hello ji! chai piyenge?” just because he’s older than me. No wait, i can actually do that because I can’t just let my murder be his cup of tea. Aha! get that? ok sorry bad pun. But i guess you get the point.
So my dear friends and fellow humans, may be think about this for a while because this topic is something to think about unlike my bad puns. Please can someone even start a campaign for this on change.org? I mean there have been campaigns for getting Arijit Singh a new mic (sorry AIB).
Also, HAHA GOTCHA! Hey don’t judge me for the clickbait title! I mean if you’re reading this then the title worked, right?
