Many women have opened up about their experiences with sexual harassment and assault in the entertainment industry in the past. But, we have rarely seen any action being taken against the accused men. Bollywood actor Tanushree Dutta has made a shocking revelation that Nana Patekar harassed her on the sets of “Horn Ok Please” during the shooting of a song in 2008.
Ms Dutta has also accused Vivek Agnihotri of asking her to ‘take off her clothes and dance’. In addition to this, she has also levied allegation against choreographer Ganesh Acharya, Producer Sami Siddiqui and Rakesh Narang.
After her allegations, she has received support from various people from the industry such as Anurag Kashyap, Swara Bhasker, Priyanka Chopra, Richa Chadda and more:

But, I never get people who bring out a rhetorical argument to degrade a claim.

Scrolling through the tweets, I felt that the people who are questioning a woman when she speaks up about sexual assault, are all like the Kerala MLA, PC George who had recently questioned and humiliated a nun recently. It shows how the toxic culture of staying silent and sucking it up, is being shoved down the throat of women in this country even today.

The worst part is that even women are calling her hungry for publicity. What if they face a similar situation? Would they be comfortable with such victim-blaming?

In a documentary made on Sunny Leone in Netflix, one of the side girls said that they were made to sign a ‘ready to make compromises’ clause in the application, based on which, they were given chances.

The Bollywood industry is another form of a frat boys’ club, where a female actor is chosen based on her ability to perform ‘item songs’ – which are made to please the male audience. She gets rejected after a certain age while men old enough to be their fathers, can play the role of love interests of young actresses.
