Looking at the growing use of online spaces in India, the Centre for Social Research and Facebook came together and initiated the #SocialSurfing programme, in 2015.
#SocialSurfing started as a one of a kind experiment on empowering the youth and millennials of India, regarding issues of online safety, while simultaneously imparting skills of cyber etiquette and counter speech. This was essentially aimed to make their online experience an engaging, socially relevant, and safe one.
With time, #SocialSurfing grew leaps and bounds, traversing the length and breadth of India, engaging many students, and encouraging discussions on online safety in a fun manner.
This one of a kind exchange of dialogue between our trainers and students has reached more than 25,000 participants in 23 states and 77 cities, marking more than 300 workshops pan India.
This documentary, shot in the middle of the first and second phase of the project, focuses upon the journey of the programme and the trainers walking miles to talk about online safety.
