Why I won’t blame the governments for the conditions of my country

I have always heard people yelling at government for all the troubles that we are facing in our day to day life. “Every politician is corrupt, nobody cares for this country”, we hear that everywhere a topic is brought to discussion. But do we, as the people of this country, even deserve to blame the highest authority of this country?

Well, the government is elected by the people, it’s not a totalitarian government where the onus is solely on the authorities, we have to accept the fact that we are, to be precise, more responsible for the path that the country is taking.

Well, if you want the proof, then look at the traffic sense in India, people flout traffic rules all the time, jumping the red signal, cutting through lanes, talking on the phone while driving, riding without a helmet. That’s not even the worst part, even if someone tells the driver to follow the rules, they ridicule us. In my case, when I threatened a rude driver of complaining to the police, he laughed and said “Kar le jo karna hai tune”. ( Do what you want to do). And it’s not a small percentage, majority of Indians are like that, no fear, no shame and bringing money power into the game.

And road sense is just one of the things, we can see that in government offices, courthouses, RTOs where bribery and commission agents are very easy to witness, nowadays even in the examination halls too.

The reason I’m writing this article is because I know we’re a great nation and we have the capacity to improve and prosper as a whole, and for that we need to accept the responsibility of being a honest citizen first, accepting that it is primarily us who need to get things right, and then the authorities, and I’m sure we’ll get to that soon.
