Dear Youth,
I love you guys and want to thank you for all for sharing my previous articles, and for all your comments on different platforms. Always remember, self-love is the best love.
I am writing this article to share an experience that I recently faced. It should be familiar to you guys, too.
I suffer from depression and eating disorders. I am also a YouTuber. Having started a new channel, I am still exploring new ideas for it. For now, being a self-proclaimed storyteller, I generally upload stories on it.
I am usually open about my mental condition on social networking platforms, as I want to reach out to all the people who are going through the same pain as me – in hopes that they would do the same for me, and we can work together to find a way forward.
My mother always tells me to be secretive about my private issues, as people will judge me, and it may deeply affect my social life. As it turns out, she is true – people do judge and talk negatively about you. This has resulted in social anxiety. I recently went out to meet a bunch of friends – and I couldn’t come out of my car for an entire hour! I sat inside, hidden, fearing judgement.
I mean, think about it. Why would someone make jokes about you? Maybe because what they say is true, and you are a mess – but more likely because it helps them feel better. People will make negative comments, judge you, bully you and have fun at your cost – but don’t let them stop you from being who you are!
Would you ever do the same? Never, right? If you would, I’m sure it’s because you are deeply frustrated in your life, or going through a tough time. Maybe you are miserable yourself, and putting others down is the only thing that makes you feel better. It’s your defence mechanism.
So, let them have a nice day and feel better.
Continue embracing the glorious mess that you are!
