In spite of the fact that out every 1,000 teenage girls in India, 76 get pregnant between the ages of 15 and 19 sex education in India still remains a controversial topic. One documentary filmmaker, Vaishali Sinha, took on an impressive project to highlight these issues through the work of the famed Dr. Mahinder Watsa. The ‘Made In India’ filmmaker when asked why she chose sex education as the topic of her next documentary, said that, “the story of an educator who’s 91 and finding it hard to retire, might help us gain some insight”. The filmmaker found that the primary source of sex education in Mumbai is the popular column, [envoke_twitter_link]Ask The Sexpert[/envoke_twitter_link], which has now a cult status.
The film will also look closely at the man behind the column whose work has spanned over 50 years. Born, pre-partition, he has “had his share of skeptics and continues to have them, something the film will explore”, which will release next year.
