Manipal Institute Alumnus, Satya Nadella Named The CEO Of Microsoft, Here’s A Look At His Career Graph

After much expectations, Microsoft today named Satya Nadella as its new CEO, replacing Steve Ballmer. Nadella has spent 22 years at Microsoft, and was previously Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of Cloud and Enterprise. Nadella also takes a position on Microsoft’s Board of Directors.

Nadella is credited as a key leader in moving the company towards cloud services, around products including Bing, Xbox and Microsoft Office. His time at MS oversaw a period of huge growth for Microsoft Business Services, too, growing that segment of the business from a $1.5 billion slice of pie to a $5 billion segment in just five years’ time.

Satya attended the Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet before attaining a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronics degree from Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, Karnataka. Later, Nadella moved o the US to pursue his studies further ahead.[/blockquote]

Nadella worked as the senior vice president of R&D for the Online Services Division and vice president of the Microsoft Business Division. Later, he was made the president of Microsoft’s $19 billion Server and Tools Business and led a transformation of the company’s business and technology culture from client services to cloud infrastructure and services. He has been credited for bringing Microsoft’s database, Windows server and developer tools to its Azure cloud. The revenue from Cloud Services grew to $20.3 billion in June 2013 from $16.6 billion when he took over in 2011.[/blockquote]

Nadella is among the many Indians setting benchmarks in the global tech ecosystem by acquiring positions of influence in some of the world’s top technology enterprises. He joins the likes of Nikesh Arora, the VP of Chief Business Officer at Google, and Sundar Piachi, senior Vice President at Google (also from Hyderabad).
