We might all be aware of the recent uprising that has been taking place in Syria when President Bashar al-Assad , a British trained doctor inherited Syria’s hard dictatorship from his father Hafez al-Assad. In the beginning he lifted the country’s decade old emergency; he set off tanks and military troops into the city and the suburbs, turning the peaceful protests into violent ones. As a result of the same, many people died including children and women and thousands have been arrested so far. Many have fled from Syria to other neighbouring countries like Jordan and Turkey. In a recent incident, clashes between the troops and the rebel fighters burst a water pipe that supplied drinking water to thousands of people living in the country. The number of people who are in the need of assistance in Syria has doubled ever since, excluding the 250,000 who fled the country to camps in neighbouring countries.
The Syrian government has however accused France of schizophrenia for pledging to support a peaceful resolution to the revolution thereby challenging President Bashar al-Assad and aiding the armed groups that are driving the uprising. In yet another incident the very same day, when the Syrian government accused France of schizophrenia, an explosion ripped through the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, killing seventeen people and wounding forty.
As mentioned above France is certainly playing an important role in helping the victims of the Syrian uprising and wants to put an end to it as soon as possible to save people from suffering terribly.
”Bashar al-Assad must go. There’s no political solution with him. He is a threat, he’s continuing with unbelievable violence to massacre the people, destroy cities and kill women and children — we’ve had evidence of this again in the past few days. It is intolerable for the human conscience, unacceptable for the region’s security and stability. The matter should be referred to the International Criminal Court so that those responsible for these atrocities one day stand trial. I want to be clear: France shoulders all her responsibilities and spares no effort in order for the Syrian people to gain their freedom and security.” said François Hollande, the President of the French Republic.
France is determined to make Bashar al-Assad resign as it is owing to the violence started by him that people have been suffering for long. He has violated the rights of humanity and is the sole reason behind the massacre in Syria. France has determined to take up this issue to the International Criminal Court by the Security Council as they believe that all those who commit crime should be punished. The Syrian forces have used unfair means against the citizens by using air strikes, polluting water and poisoning it so that the number of casualties can be increased.
Only when Bashar al-Assad leaves the nation, will peace be restored. He is a threat to the people and has been continuing to met out unbelievable violence. France has taken up this step but it is also urging the other countries to stand up for the rights of the people of Syria as human rights are being violated and the extent to which people have been suffering is unbearable. It is now time for other countries to join hands with France and help it demand the resignation of Bashar al-Assad. Only by virtue of us joining hands together will we be able to make the world a better place to live in.
